GREEN ACHIEVER SCHEME SILVER AWARD

Green Award CertificateHigham Ferrers (Northamptonshire) based Ecophy Cleaning Services Ltd, which specialises in providing total cleaning solutions for domestic and small office customers throughout the county and beyond, has attained Green Achiever award silver status.

Developed by environmental consultancy E4 environment, a business or organisation interested in the Green Achiever scheme normally starts by registering free at www.greenachiever.co.uk, complete a short questionnaire to outline its responsibilities and receive a listing in the Green Achiever online directory. The first level is self-assessment, which includes a declaration of environmental commitment. Silver is the next and demonstrates the positive action taken in the way it cares for the environment. The highest level, gold, is attained following an extensive environmental audit.

Aside from current good practice such as the use of ethical cleaning products and energy and resource-efficient machinery, Ecophy Cleaning Services had to complete a rigorous action plan to achieve silver status, which director Jamie Austin believes is a major step forward for the company. He said: “We provide customers with a complete green cleaning solution.  Our services encompass all cleaning within the home and different services can be bolted together giving a flexible package without the usual hassle of going to different companies for different jobs. We have built in a number of staff training initiatives concerning the transport, disposal and potential recycling of cardboard, plastic trade waste and used cleaning solutions which, allied to information about how to cut carbon emissions, helps us to explain with complete confidence to customers the benefits of our processes and ‘going green’ in general.”

Deborah Cairns, operations manager at E4environment and with specific responsibility for the Green Achiever scheme, said: “Consumers whether they are public or business to business are demanding more from retailers, manufacturers and suppliers, for example, more recyclable products and packaging, as well as services and products that are environmentally friendly. The staff and management at Ecophy Cleaning Services Ltd are demonstrating a conviction to enhancing their green status that not only sets a standard for others to follow but will save the organisation money too. Congratulations to them on gaining silver status.”
